Funding: the cost of holding a perpetual position
Perpetual futures have no expiry, so exchanges keep their price close to the spot price with funding: at fixed times (every 8 hours on many contracts, more often on some) one side pays the other.
- Funding positive: longs pay shorts.
- Funding negative: shorts pay longs.
How much
Funding is charged on the notional. At +0.01% per 8 hours, a 10,000 USDT long pays about 1 USDT each interval — roughly 3 USDT a day.
Why it matters here
Funding goes between traders, not to the exchange. It is not a trading fee, so no rebate service returns it. Our market page shows the current BTC and ETH funding every hour so you can see what holding costs.

Not investment advice. Nothing here is a recommendation to trade, to use leverage, or to use any particular exchange. Trading crypto derivatives can lose you more than you deposit. We are paid a commission by exchanges on the fees you generate, so we earn more when you trade more — read everything here with that in mind.
